Analyst: iPhone will further cut prices to retain users

We have seen that the iPhone has a considerable price cut in China and Japan, and at least one analyst believes that the iPhone will further cut prices in the future. A report last November said that Apple plans to cut the price of the iPhone XR in Japan, and the report quickly confirmed that Apple offered a discount of about $100 to the iPhone XR later that month.
Analyst: iPhone will further cut prices to retain users

Last week, a number of iPhones also received price cuts on the domestic e-commerce platform, and the price cuts for the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone XR were about 20%.

Earlier this month, Apple warned that the company's first quarter 2019 earnings will be $5 billion to $9 billion lower than originally projected. The resulting impact has caused Apple's share price to fall further, and many analysts have lowered Apple's target price. Wedbush analysts said on Monday that the iPhone will further cut prices.
The company said that the Chinese market is critical to Apple's future, which is why we expect the iPhone XR to see a sharper price cut in the coming months. Although some investors will worry that the iPhone price cut will affect Apple's revenue in the next few quarters, and the image of the iPhone's high-end smartphones will be damaged, but to say that all this is related to Apple's user base.
The report pointed out that Apple needs to implement the correct pricing strategy around the iPhone XR and future versions in the Chinese market. In the face of competition between domestic brands such as Huawei and Xiaomi, Apple needs to avoid losing existing iPhone users in the next few seasons, so there will be more substantial price cuts in the future.

At the same time, Wedbush believes that, given the need for more services to fill the gap, Apple may accelerate its long-awaited streaming video service, and large-scale acquisitions may be the only realistic way.

Look at the picture: How big is the impact of the iPhone on Android phones?

Foreign media PhoneArena reported on Thursday that Apple's first-generation iPhone had a huge impact on competitors' smartphone designs. Before Apple released the touch-screen phone on January 9, 2007, the smartphone had a physical keyboard, and the user had to navigate the phone through the buttons. After the iPhone was released, touch-screen phones suddenly became popular.

Through the pictures shared by users on the Reddit website, we can see how much the smartphone design changes before and after the release of the original iPhone, so as to understand the influence of the Apple mobile phone. Apple used the same image in the first Apple v. Samsung patent infringement case to prove that the Samsung Galaxy S and other Samsung models infringed Apple's patents related to iPhone design.

In addition to the original iPhone, the same situation appeared on the iPhone X released in September 2017. The iPhone X is not the first smartphone to use a screen groove. This "honor" actually belongs to the Sharp Aquos S2, which is released three days before the Essential Phone.

Phone Before iPhone X and Phones After iPhone X

It should be mentioned that the screen grooves of these models do not have any function. In contrast, the screen groove of the iPhone X is equipped with the TrueDepth camera system necessary for Face ID. From the above picture, we can see that after the release of iPhone X, many Android flagship phones on the market began to use screen groove design, including Google Pixel XL.

Now, the latest trend in smartphones is to use an on-screen camera instead of a recess, a design that Apple has not used yet. However, PhoneArena pointed out in the report that the impact of the iPhone X-style groove may take up to a full year to disappear.

The Apple Watch Series 4 will be a frameless display, and the iPad Pro 2018 has iPhone X's gesture system

The Apple Watch Series 4

In addition to the three new iPhone, Apple should present Apple Watch Series 4 and iPad Pro 2018 at its event in September. Today, Bloomberg published an article with new official details about the devices.
The article says that Apple Watch Series 4 will have the same design as the current models, but the company uses a new display with almost no frames.
In addition to the new large display and powerful filling, Apple will not make any changes to the Apple Watch Series 4. Retaining the previous design, the company will ensure the compatibility of new watches with old straps.
The same will be with the lineup of the iPad Pro 2018. The frames on the 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro will become thinner due to the lack of Touch ID, the technology will replace the Face ID. The screen of the small model will increase from 10.5 inches to 11. In addition, the new iPad Pro will support the gesture management system, as on the iPhone X.
Apple will not present the new iPad mini, which was last updated in 2015. With the 6.5-inch iPhone X Plus, the relevance of a small tablet is lost.

How to enable dark mode in the Wikipedia application for iPhone

How to enable dark mode in the Wikipedia application for iPhone

Many developers add a dark mode to their applications. The dark interface not only looks better but also helps to save charging on the iPhone with an OLED display. Earlier we already wrote about how to turn on dark mode in the applications Bear, YouTube, etc. Today we will tell how to turn on the dark mode in Wikipedia for iPhone and iPad.

How to enable dark mode in Wikipedia

1) Open the Wikipedia application on your iPhone or iPad.
2) Click the Ribbon tab at the bottom of the screen.

3) Click the gear icon in the upper right corner of the screen.
4) Select Reader Settings.
5)  Select a topic from the available.
The following topics are available in the Topics section :
  • Default: Standard light theme.
  • Sepia: Yellowish shade, as in old photographs.
  • Dark : Dark interface.
  • Black : Black interface.
The application also has an option that reduces the opacity of images in dark and black themes. Thus, reading articles is more pleasant.
For full comfort in Wikipedia, there is a convenient icon, with which help to change the themes even easier. Open an article and click on the " TT " button at the bottom of the screen to select a different theme, change the font size and increase or decrease the brightness.
If you often read articles in Wikipedia in the evening or at night, we recommend turning on dark or black mode to reduce the burden on the eyes.

What you need to know about the dark mode

Dark mode is a concept that is widely used in the industry to describe themes with dark and black elements, on which the content is very prominent.
Dark themes are popular among those who work with video and photography, designers, etc. Judging by Final Cut and other Apple program, the company thoroughly decided to switch to dark mode.
Professionals prefer to use dark mode, because it reduces the burden on the eyes, especially at night.
In macOS Mojave 10.14, Apple added a full dark mode not only for the main interface, but also for most standard programs: Photos, Notes, Mail, Messages, Calendar, etc. Moreover, the company provided an API for the dark mode so that developers could add it support in their programs.
In iOS, there is no full dark mode yet.

IOS 11 has a new Universal Access feature - Smart inversion, which simulates a dark mode, but its work leaves much to be desired. In iOS 12 function did not improve and did not add a dark mode.

Dark mode + OLED display

We have no doubt that someday dark mode will be added to iOS, as it will be very useful on models with OLED-display, like the iPhone X and the future lineup of 2018.
Most likely, this will happen with iOS 13 or iOS 14 in the next or 2020. By this time, all new models of the iPhone will certainly be with OLED-displays. Such displays do not require backlighting, which consumes a lot of energy, like on LCD displays.

On OLED panels, each pixel is highlighted individually. If the pixel is black, it does not consume energy. In this regard, OLED-displays very save battery power when the screen is black.
The App Store even has a list with third-party iOS applications that have a dark mode. It can be viewed through a web browser.

How to use Face ID on any iPhone

How to use Face ID on any iPhone

Face ID is an innovative feature that uses facial recognition to unlock a smartphone. It was first introduced with the iPhone X, and it replaced the Touch ID. Face ID is only available on the iPhone X, so owners of older models can not use it.
Fortunately, now there is a way to use Face ID on any iPhone. This is possible due to the jailbreak application Appellancy , which simulates the function of Face ID on older iPhone models. With this application you can unlock your smartphone with your face.
Below, we'll show you how to use Appellancy on your iPhone with iOS 11.

How to use Face ID on any iPhone

Step 1: Open the Cydia application, go to the sources tab and add the following repository: http://julioverne.github.io
Step 2: When the source is added and all of its files are downloaded, search through the Tweak Appellancy search and install it.
Step 3:  Go back to the home screen and start the application. Click the "+" button in the upper right corner of the screen to add a new user. Here you can take a picture of your face so that the application can recognize you.
The more photos you make, the better face recognition will work. You can take a picture of your face under a variety of angles. You can also add the faces of your relatives so that they too can unlock your smartphone.
Step 4: Everything is ready. Now, to unlock your iPhone, just bring it to your face so that the front camera can recognize it. A second later the device will be unlocked.
Now you can add Face ID to your iPhone. It is important to note that the application only simulates the Face ID function, and does not add it to the device. The application is not as secure as Face ID and much less as a Touch ID or password. They can only play or surprise friends.
Developers tweaks are becoming more creative and add more new features to the old models of the iPhone. If you have not yet installed a jailbreak on your device, you can use our step-by-step instructions on how to install the jailbreak Electra .

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 vs iPhone X: speed test

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 vs iPhone X

The Galaxy Note 9 has 6GB of RAM and an 8-core Snapdragon 845 with 2.7GHz. And the iPhone X has only 3GB of RAM and the A11 Bionic processor, which will soon be a year old. Accordingly, Note 9 should be faster than the iPhone X.
However, tests showed that this is not so. iPhone X was able to get ahead of Note 9 not only in the basic tasks, but also in multitasking.
In the first round, the iPhone X was much faster to download powerful applications. Note 9 it took a long time to export the video to 4K, while iPhone X coped with it as quickly as possible. In the first round, iPhone X managed in 2 minutes 26 seconds.
The second round was to launch applications from RAM, and here the iPhone X also showed itself well, although it only has 3 GB of RAM. Note 9 has as many as 6 GB of RAM, and it should load already open applications much faster, but in fact it is not. Nevertheless, Note 9 still coped with the task faster than the iPhone X, although the difference was only 3 seconds.
It's important to note that iOS 12 beta 8 was installed on iPhone X. The next version of iOS will significantly improve the performance of devices. Most likely, it was because of this that the smartphone was able to get ahead of Note 9 in most tests.
As for downloading applications, sometimes leadership took Note 9, and sometimes - iPhone X. For a smartphone, which is soon a year, the iPhone X works very well. Soon there will be an iPhone X 2018 , so compared to it, Samsung Note 9 will seem even slower.

The iPhone 2018 is more expected than the Galaxy Note 9

The new flagship Samsung - Galaxy Note 9 - can be the most powerful smartphone of the company, but a survey of the PC Mag portal shows that users are more interested in the new lineup of the iPhone 2018 from Apple.

The survey involved 1,555 respondents, and 42% answered that they are most interested in the line of iPhone 2018. 21% are more interested in Galaxy Note 9.

The Google Pixel line is of interest to many because of the good cameras, but such users were only 7%. Another 5% of respondents are more interested in other Android flagships, including LG V40 and OnePlus 6T.
The iPhone 2018 is more expected than the Galaxy Note 9

The number of respondents is rather small and not entirely objective. Nevertheless, Apple sells almost 100 million new iPhones each year, and Samsung only 5-10 million Galaxy Note. Not surprisingly, most people are more interested in the new iPhone in 2018.

Galaxy Note 9 on the functionality basically coincides with the Galaxy S9, which was released in March this year, so Note 9 does not cause such interest as the new iPhone. In addition, Note 9 - a large smartphone with a stylus, and such devices are not suitable for everyone. iPhone will always remain the leader in terms of people's interest.

Below we will tell you about several ways to play YouTube video in the background on the iPhone and iPad. All methods work in iOS 12 and iOS 11.

  1. The page will be updated, and the full version of the YouTube site with your video will open.
  2. Start the video and wait for the advertisement to end, if necessary.
  3. Now click the icon that is responsible for the browser tabs.
  1. Switch to another tab or create a new one and load any site.
