iOS 12 is now installed on 78% of devices

Based on the updated iOS 12 installation statistics shared for developers on the App Store support page, the iOS 12 operating system is installed on 78% of devices released in the past four years. Apple now presents iOS data in two ways, providing the installation rate of recent and old devices. 78% of devices in the past four years are running iOS 12, and 75% of devices have updated versions, only 17% continue to run iOS 11, and only 5% of devices released in the past four years Run an earlier version of iOS.

As of December 4, iOS 12 has been installed on 70% of all devices and 72% of recent devices, so the install rate has increased by a few percentage points last month.
iOS 12 is faster than iOS 11. On January 25, 2018, iOS 11 was only installed on 65% of active iOS devices, probably because the iOS 11 operating system had many errors in its life cycle.

The adoption rate of iOS 12 is more similar to that of iOS 10. By January 5, 2017, iOS 10 was installed on 76% of devices.
Apple is able to use its OTA features to quickly spread software updates to most user groups, making it an advantage over the vendor-savvy Android, providing new features and security updates in a timely manner.
Most Android users continue to use the Marshmallow, Nougat or Lollipop operating systems that have been around for years, not the latest version of Android, because many Android devices may never see updates for newer versions because vendors stop supporting or failing.
