Frames 6.1-inch iPhone will be smaller due to LED chips

Together with the updated iPhone X and iPhone X Plus this year, Apple should also release a 6.1-inch iPhone with an LCD screen. All three models will have displays with recesses and frames, like the original iPhone X. To achieve the lack of frames for the iPhone X and iPhone X Plus will not be so difficult, because they will have OLED panels, but using the LCD panel will be a problem.

All LCD-displays due to the technology feature should have a frame about 4-4.5mm from the bottom. Almost all smartphones with Android frame on top or bottom of the rest, although they are called frameless. This spoils the whole illusion of the lack of a framework and generally does not look very good. In addition, all three models should be as similar as possible.
To reduce the scope of the iPhone with an LCD screen, Apple will use advanced LED chips to illuminate the display. Chips will be purchased from the Japanese company Nichia. Almost all other companies use other chips, and these will reduce the frame to 2-2.5mm.

Other companies do not use the same chips because of production difficulties.
Use 0.3 LEDs for the side display of the display for a smartphone is more difficult than the 0.4 LED chips Nichia launched a test production of such chips only in the first half of 2018.
The report also says that Apple will begin test production of the model in July, and in August, part of the main production starts. Massive smartphone will begin to do in September - then it will be presented and released.
6.1-inch iPhone should become more popular than the other two models, so Apple should be ready for big demand.
